    Default replacing pump seals?

I noticed a steady stream of water blowing past the "packing gland" area as well as some grease leaking out of the thrust bearing area. What kind of job am i looking at to replace these seals? I figure i will replace the thrust bearing since I will have it apart.

Give each nut(there are 2) next to the packing a half turn. It should stop. An occasional drip is ok. If it can't go any more, you need to replace it. I had a shop do mine, along with the oil seal. Not a huge job, but you need a giant socket and puller which I don't have, so best left to a shop. The shop only charged me $175 to do the whole job, so well worth it for me. I did have to remove the pump myself, though. Hit the u joint in back with grease every trip, and keep the bowl full of gear oil. That's about all you need to do for basic pump health, if it's not too late.

If you take it all the way apart you might consider installing a mechanical seal that you never have to worry about adjusting

I have used them in my boats and put some in friends boats, the way I look at it, its just one less thing to worry about leaking and ruining your weekend!
