    Default cj72 Sunkin Treasure Build

Well I purchased a Sanger Custom Sprint Jet from Ron Lund similar to my other one, most of you know the story on what happened to the other cj72 and where it sits. I have been quite busy with work and other things to get it done when I wanted to. Now the goal is our Burley Idaho Regatta. Being I am the Comp Jet points leader and plan on staying on top, I need a boat that will help keep me and my hard working team where we deserve. So this last weekend we decided to start busting ass to get it done. I know it will be a lot of work in a short time but it will be well worth it.
Thanks to our sponsors and friends I think we will have it done. If it does not happen we have a back up plan in place.
As of right now the boat is about 3hrs of work from having the stringers installed, we have 4 going in so it will be a little extra work. We have been taking pictures along the way to document the build as we did with the GlenCoe.
We are hoping the money holds out and I am able to get all my paying jobs done during the build to help fund the venture to Burley. The good things are the engine is done as well as the pump. We also have all the glass and the resin to do the job.
I will start having pictures posted up in the next few days.

Well we just set the turn fin. I have a ton of pics to share of the build. This whole thing reminds me of a old challenge that was thrown up in 2005. But that is another story. The boat is coming along slowly in my book but we really have not had a whole lot of planning on the build, it seems we are shooting from the hip a bit.
As we, Amanda and I were checking out parts we seem to be short a loader. I am in need of a loader similar to the Harden Xtreme version, but any real loader will help. So if anyone has one I could borrow for the race it would be a big help.

    Thanks
    Jim

Looking forward to this build. More boats in a race is always better for the sport.

It has been quite a slam to get this project ready. I have to thank PW Tony (Tony Wagner) for all his help, Thank you bud. Now we also have to thank our new sponsors for helping out, JetBoatPerformance, Foxwell Motorsports & California Livestock Supply. We are just finishing up the glass on the stringers now and final coat of resin. Tomorrow we start rigging the boat, installing the pump and Wednesday we are installing the New BBF. I will do a rundown of the build when we get back from Burley with our #1 trophy. All I can say is this is one bad ass boat. With as much glass and wood that has been put in it is still on the light side.

It is sure going to be nice taking a machine gun to a knife fight for once. I did forget to mention Tuff-Enuf for all the machine work and the assembly. Scott and Chris did there home work designing this engine for me. We have worked for 2.5 years getting this engine to where it is today and I can't that you guys enough for all your hard work.

    Default Burley air

You better take a 2 brl carb set up......Burley, @4000' is known for 8000+ air density readings..... Seriously, take all your smallest jets, and a 650 DP... I fear you'll be chasing air all the way up to, and including, the Sunday final.....IMO, there is no way you'll get close with a Dominator....... Been there, done that with injection at Burley, with 82% air!!!!!!!!!!!.......Good luck, Ray

Looks good Jim, but why all the extra wood? I get the stringers, but why the outer boards and bulkheads? Good luck in Burley.

Here is the deal, this boat was designed with a intagrated floor. It was not designed for standard stringers. It was the only way we could create any sort of stiffness. The small thin ones (battons) are also there to help reduse flex on the keel. Now for the bulkheads (ribs), this boat was designed with three ribs and a transum. Being I have the engine and turn fin moved forward, that is all I did. Now everything is a bit bigger being we are going to be racing it. I wish I had time to finish the boat with the intagrated gunnel supports like the SS/PS boats. It is allot more work to make one of these boats fit the new CJ rules.
We might just make drivers meeting, thanks. We got back last night with the engine around 11:45 from Avondale AZ.

Makes total sense Jim. You had me scratching my head for bit! If you leave BHC by 6PM Friday, you'll make the driver's meeting. Good luck to all of the racers this weekend.
