    Default cj72 Sunkin Treasure

Well I purchased a Sanger Custom Sprint Jet Boat from Ron Lund similar to my other one, most of you know the story on what happened to the other cj72 and where it sits. I have been quite busy with work and other things to get it done when I wanted to. The goal was the Burley Idaho Regatta. Being I was the Comp Jet points leader, I needed a boat that will help keep me and my hard working team where we deserve, a few overall wins. So two weeks before Burley we decided to start busting ass to get it done. I know it will be a lot of work in a short time but it will be well worth it. As most of you know we did not make our goal. I ended up getting sick from overworking. So we stepped back and relaxed a bit. I have been working on the boat a little every day and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have a few things left to be glassed. I am trying to decide if I need to go the extra step of installing gunnel supports. I am really leaning towards them. I have to give a very special thanks to our sponsors and friends. I know we will have it done for Long Beach. We have been taking pictures along the way to document the build as we did with the GlenCoe. It has been quite a slam to get this project ready. I have to thank PW Tony (Tony Wagner/Team Dart) for all his help, Thank you bud. Now we also have to thank our new sponsors for helping out, JetBoatPerformance, Foxwell Motorsports, DSC Motorsports, Independent Street Rods, TAV Construction, High Flow Dynamics, CYCO Designs, Tuf-Enuf, HB jr. & California Livestock Supply. We are just finishing up the glass on the stringers and final coat of resin. With as much glass and wood that has been put in, it is still on the light side. We are hoping the money holds out and I am able to get all my paying jobs done during the build to help fund the venture to Long Beach. The good things are the engine is done as well as the pump. We also have all the glass to do the job. We just ran out of resin, so I have to find some good laminating resin in town somewhere. I will start having pictures posted up in the next few days. I am throwing out a few pics today just so you guys can see what I am doing. I am making a brace for the turn fin and the pump, but I have to install the engine to get my measurements first.

I know this sounds crazy, but why not run the stringers all the way instead of boxing them in.
Yea, I know I have one, and understand box's are strong, but so are full length stringers..
All in all great project and will keep watching it..

It is all 3/4" ply with three layers of wovenroven at the corners and two on the stringer runs. The hull is pritty solid now, I am still kicking around gunnel supports. I may install some temps for Long Beach. Damn this is going to be fun.

Jim, Where are the pix of the side? I am happy to see the progress. Are the Ks running SD? I might actually have to go now.

Cy, I hope you can see them in the pics. The boat worked very well, I know I need more seat time in it to figure out exactly what it wants for it to run where I want it. As far as the boats handling so far I am very please with the work we have done. On Friday we lost a MSD box in the first qualifier and were unable to get it fixed by the LCQ. Saturday we had a major engine failure which put us out for the rest of the event. It was still a good race, it was nice to be back in the seat. We also were able to collect a few points for the 2011 Comp Jet racing Season. I am working on our proven 466 back-up engine for the next event at Havasu Landing in a month. I expect to be able to dial it in a bit before and then at the race.

Wasnt there a thread back when about this? If i remember correctly it was about engines and the fact they weren't going to blow up.
