Call up Duane at Hi-Tech....I see his sticker on your pump. Maybe he had it in the shop and is familiar with it. The phone number is on the sticker.

    Default unknown

its been in the family nearly 20 years. (i'm 31) it has been sitting in AZ for 5 years... but i live in kansas and we bought it here. I am having BBC built for it and the pump has less than 3 short seasons on it. Duane built the pump so from what i hear it should b good. My concern is that i have an aluminum inpellar and i should be pushing 500hp+. Is there anymore info on the hull u guys could supply? What kind of speed it can handle and quality? thx. The beginning of my jet boat expirence!!!!!

well a v-hull gets scary if you get it near or above 100mph, the boat should have full stringers if it is a sunkisst so it will handle some horsepower but ur pump will have to be looked at if you start getting into some real HP...but 500hp ur pump will be fine, tunning ur pump will add some extra speed and done by the right person you will gain some MPH's. the best thing for a jet boat is tourqe (more tourqe the better). questions are the best way to learn stuff and reading these post's are great im new to this also and these guys are full of good info.....

I'm thinking i'd like to be around 85 or 90...... think thats plenty. the boat ran quite well with the current pump set up with the old big block. It was from my estimation very close to stock. I would guess we were gettin prolly 70 mph may be a little more??? I know the impellar is aluminum and am concerned that it will be a problem.

Well to get up to the 85-90 mph range your going to need a bit more than 500hp. If you are looking for those speed numbers, the hp/tourqe you are going to need to get there is going to require a stainless IMO. Looks like a cool boat though! Dont know much about sunkist's, I hear good things though.

My hull ran 86 with 500 ish HP, an aluminum A IMP, loader and PD... No shoe, no rideplate, and no setback intake. It's not a sunkist though, unless that hulls really heavy i dont see why you couldnt run in the 80's

"If" it`s a sunkist you dont want it to go much over 75mph. I use to race one before the Jet Hydro and they dont like speeds over 75mph. That boat will pitch you out if you loose the motor. A guy in Wichita did a set back pump in one and now he`s parked the boat as it try`s to kill em.
