Sponson add ons are for cp tunnels, not gullwings.

A pop off or ratchet would be a good investment. Those hull tend to do weird ish on sudden shut down (like crash usually)

5100 rpm in the 90's? I would say that's an efficient set up already. Just hit the button and hang on.

My 19' runs in the 90's on motor and over 100 with a ZEX 150 shot (two plates, 75 shot each)

No ratchet. Had the boat shut down at 95mph, went slightly right by a few degrees, but mostly straight.

Im no guru but! 1 I run a 2* taper not backcut 2 I have ran the droop and a short droop and the short droop seems to work better on holeshot! 3 Non setback pump with Jet a Way standard coupling! 4 5100 on a 532 sheeees!!! As someone told me you can't be scared! Juice that [email protected]#h should get into the power of the motor and fly! Or cut the impellor down and get the RPM up! JMO! WT

Your setup does sound right to begin with!

No - caught me off guard because it had never shut down on me, but I was good. Once the boat started to turn right I turned the wheel left to help offset any further movement - don't think it helped a lot, but the boat did stop turning right and just went straight.

Just look far ahead, be prepared (knees out from under the dash), and respect what you are doing. The second something doesn't feel right - don't push it.

Mikewtx19, I was thinking, 5100rpm seems a little low for low 90's. I might be wrong. Just for an example. I have 557ci and an MPD pump with all the bags of tricks, that will turn 5800-5900 It puts me around 93-94mph off the juice and 6400 on nos will get me to 100-103 depending on water and weather cond. I need to try a few other loaders and maybe more bite in the shoe. But it feels real safe at speed. Like Randy said "No when to say hang on and when to get off."
A good Life Line is always good.

Maybe for a new thread. How fast is to fast in a 19'GW. Where do we start pushing the 19's out of there comfort zones? on top speed?

LOL... welllllll.....they get pretty hairy over 120 and up.

I would say from my own experience settin up 19's that 100 is pretty good, 110-115 is about the upper limit of there comfort zone...anything above that and you better damn well know your shit.. Because at that power speed level the hardware changes drastically..ie, what works at 120+ will NOT work at 100 at all. i'v run these since 1986 btw.

I ran a 526 inch kb olds with 11.5-1 and 44-48 pounds boost injected on alky..boat was a bit of a handful. Boat was a "mid" weight 19' very very well set up, i think i built like 25 shoes ect for her.. Pics on Scottons garage wall..Im pretty sure its the fastest 19 he ever sold. But yeah no doubt in my mind it would have wrecked in time. And I have 100's and 100's of passes in 19's

It does sound like he could hit the juice and would fly! Without hurting the motor any should pull like a madman! WT

Each GW takes it's own setup you just have to find it!!!

the 90s deal is unconfirmed by gps ,my pitot is way past the 80 mark so im guessin there...someday ill borrow a gps or sumpin.my boat hooked once ,lost power. but it had the loader 1/2 in below keel.ive since trimmed back to 1/16-1/8 above keel and contoured/beveled the leading edges ,cut the ramps back at at an 45*angle as opposed to 90*. so a loss of power SHOULD be a bit less hooky.whats with these backcut shoes? i dont have pressure taps (i know i need them....)what about steering fins ?anyone use em?
