I think I amy know the cause but I was running into the 90s for quite a while and noticed i was loosing speed and shut the boat down. I took a few minutes to figure that my inspection cap had broken an ear off. I was running the boat pretty hard over wakes a few minutes earlier and noticed that my launch rpm was up about 300 rpm. I am assuming that the sudden increase in water pressure from jumping wakes cracked the cap. Does this sound right. Lucky the pump is set back!
Dave the jet likely got a gulp of air and when it set back down it shocked loaded the cover , relatively common more so on "E" pumps also seen suctions blown out from similar circumstances , if your not going to go with a pop off better consider a upgraded cover and HD retainer bolts (check your current bolt (the eyes elongate) Tom
