Thanks for the info and history on the boat... The colors were quite oxidized when I got it but I spent a lot of time buffing them out and they look great now... I figured the boat was a bit heavy, but that is not all bad. It has held up really well because of the added weight and structure. Only a few minor gel cracks and I am impressed that the keel has not been sanded off by beaching it... Looks like it has been an a buoy most of its life near the beach. With the all aluminum LS1 engine it will be a couple hundred pounds lighter than it was with the BBC.
I would love to see some of your pictures of the boat... Please post them up. I would post some myself but I am heading out tomorrow on a 3 week vacation to Yellowstone.
My plan is to sort out the boat with a 480hp LS1 and then install a 700hp 454 LS stroker motor I have waiting in the wings. Do you have any info on the speeds you got with the big block? How much HP were you running. I'd like to see if I can get it up to 100mph.
Where are you located? I would like to learn more about your time with the boat. I'm about 80 miles from Blythe and not much farther to Parker and Havasu where I plan to do some boating. I also plan to hit the lakes around Phoenix. Can't wait to get it wet...
ill get some pics up im up in the high dezert it spent most of its life going to parker when i took it over it was in needles most of the time and a ocasional trip to parker the boat when i got it had a new motor,i believe it was a 461 or 468 tunnel ram every nut and bolt chromed carbs powder coated andbols cromed the motor was bad ass when i got the boat it ran 75 80 on 450 500 hp the pump that was in it when i got it was not anything special all pulled the killer pump out, when it use to run in parker it was on kill mode 100 + easy, we have raced allot of people in that boat through out the late 80's early 90's and i dont recall ever being beat
