Default I thought I had more MPH....but i guess not

I just ran the boat with a GPS this past weekend and I was hoping for better results. 59 MPH @ 4500 RPM was all I could get with the current set up.

Stock 454...basset OT Headers...Dominator pump with a droop snoot and place diverter.

Only had myself and a buddy in the boat, about 20 gals of fuel, and no ice chests or bimini top. I played with the diverter and the notch just in the middle seemed to work the best. I will also attach a picture of the boat, what is some of your thoughts??? Does this speed and RPM sound about right for my ride?

Sold the miller...bought an open bow Kachina!!

My parents had one with a stock Ford motor and a diverter with a 4 degree wedge and it would run 65-67 mph. I dont remember the rpms though. What i do remember is the boat would porpoise at cruising speeds if the diverter wasnt all the down, but it would take set with the diverter adjusted up a little bit when you got on it.

Good looking boat! Dump your buddy and 10 gals of gas and you'll be in the low 60's. With the open bow, you have quite a bit of weight up front so the boat is probably riding pretty wet. The droop is helping get it up a bit but it's probably not enough with the power that you have.
I also have an open bow and kind of know what you're going through. Here's a link to a thread on my boat with pictures of a ride plate I made and attached-
    http://www.laidbackboatersboard.com/our-sled-t8.html

It was enough to get the transom up out of the water enough to where there was quite a bit less wetted area.

Here's a picture of it before the ride plate with just me in the boat-

and here's what it looks like after the home made ride plate with 2 of us in the boat and pretty full gas tanks.

you can see how much more of the boat is out of the water.
