Default Anyone use Procomp carb parts?

I need to get another carb base for my 850dp and saw Procomp makes a cast piece. I've seen the billet Proform and AEG(?) pieces, but I really don't need the bling. Anyone used the Procomp parts (not the heads, I know they're a waste of money)?

The 850 I have is OLDer and doesn't have the lower pivot hole I need. A new base would give me the new throttle lever with the lower pivot hole. That's all.

I hear the whole leach thing, but you could say that about Barry Grant, Proform, AEG, etc. Where does it stop?

No, big difference. Pro Comp are definitely leaches. Barry Grant's just an a$$hole.

You could just make a bracket to transfer the pivot point to the bottom of the arm

not the nicest looking example but you get the idea, i had to do a similar thing on my Dad's Dominator.

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Decision, decisions. Do I remove my old Daivid 519 sig line quote and replace it with this, or stay the course. Damn! I really would like to have both. But don't want to appear as a nut swinger. I have to give this some serious thought. Truley a great post, that nailed both of them down pat.

I've looked everywhere and can't find out WHERE BG parts are made. Used to be "made in the USA" was something manufacturers were proud to display. Chinese or not aside, how to you think Barry started? Copying is leaching, right? It's just not that cut and dried anymore. I've heard a few Pro Comp pieces are junk, but I heard that about Proform and my carb body works great.
It wouldn't even be an issue if i could find a REASONABLY priced carb base that's made in the US.

I assure you, BG's stuff is made here. Its not a matter of copying. Thats done everyday. It the fact that ProComp stuff is made offshore, by a guy from Australia, and dumped here. Where exactly, do you and I and or anybody else benefit from that. And BG did really "copy" Holley. Holley could never win that arguement in court. And I can't stand BG. And refuse to use his stuff. Proform is at least alittle better in that they do in fact pay licensing fee to companies like GM and others for some of the stuff they make. But nothing would please me more than to see Pro Comp fold due to lack of sales. But I'm not holding my breath. Way to many people just don't get it, and flock to the "price point" at the end of the isle. I hope when the bastard dies, they bury him under his own money.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but the price Holley charges for a cast aluminum base is way out of line. I don't need billet, but my options are limited.
Holley did "win" (indirectly) as that was the reason for the Demon line (and whatever f'ed up BG metering changes). I think I'm going to email BG and see WHERE their castings/machining/assembly is.
