    Default CAM suggestions...?

    Hi Yawl,
I've got a 454ci (my first Chevy)...Redoin the motor (since I spun a bearing), all stock on the bottom end. Want more than the 330HP, any suggestions on a good CAM. Not wanting to RACE, but would like good acceleration out of the hole for skiers. Boat is a 21' Rochell Craft Open Bow.

Thanks in advance for your much needed input.......

    Ride Safe...Always WRAP...hehe

Whatever cam you get just remember to get some matching springs too. Jetboat motors usualy like about 4* advance on the cam, if you get a custom ground cam they can grind it with the advance already in it for you. On stock heads a big cam wont get you too far, a step above an RV style cam (.500-.550 lift) will probable work well and keep wear and tear down also.
    Nice!

    Default cstraub

As FastRat said, PM cstraub, Chris WILL get back to you in a timely manner and hook you up with your best "possible" performance. If, as you say, "all stock" bottom end, you'll get another chance pretty soon if you try to do too much in the way of bolt in HP....... As far as skiing goes, a lot can be done with ignition timing curves to get the motor "happy" in the desired RPM range for your recreational needs....You can also make the boat more "usable" by looking into the pump and choosing a replacement impeller for a "dialed in" ski boat.......

AND, as mentioned, the "peanut port" 454 heads are working against you for any real HP gains. Just remember the boat's purpose, FUN, and proceed accordingly. The "real fast" boats will be on their trailers, and you'll still be having FUN, which is the MAIN idea, right?...........
