I don't think it is available separately, but only as an assembley in a wear ring.

I could be wrong tho, I run a 1-piece polyurethane rubber ring, and have for nearly 20 years now. First one still sealed tight after 16 years.
Replaced the impeller on a pump rebuild and replaced the ring too.

Better watch it, this thread will get locked and edited now. You mentioned the polyurethane ring.

Yes, it is available separately from all the usual pump parts suppliers. About $6-7 each.

Johnray69, you might try contacting the major pump manufacturers to get it in bulk.

Well there we go. I learnded sumptin today.

I've just never dealt with an insulated one. The one predating my current type, was solid bronze, no insulator.

I must've missed something. What's the deal with mentioning the "urethane ring"?

Here's a link to the thread.

    http://www.performanceboats.com//showthread.php?t=5790

Rex had to lock the thread and go through it and edit it, then he reopened it, and it almost got locked again. Sadly this is the edited version. It's missing the posts that started the fighting. But still contains a lot of information on them.

There is long and old history with someone who really hates the inventor and manufacturer of said polyurethan wear ring, and flames him at any opportunity.

Thiws board is much less "tollerant" of the flaming, which is an improvement IMO over what was permitted on "another" board (now defunct).

Gotcha. I'm pretty sure I remember the perpetrator of said flaming on the now defunct board . I agree with you that the tolerance level on this board is an improvement. Less junk to weed through.

But why can't the ring or it's manufacturer be mentioned(great product and great guy IMO, BTW)? Just to keep the flamer at bay?

That is pretty much the reason.

There's not much left to say about the ring. That thread got over 2,000 views and 113 posts (it actually got more, but many were removed, I got like 6-7 removed, no telling how many others got removed). Lots of useful information and opinions about the urethane ring in that thread.

Now, let's get this thread back on subject before we attract attention.

What are the insulators made of?

That's still a month or so away because I have to scrounge up the money to put some kind of an interior in the boat and get those damn control arms for my old ass jetovator and get the cables hooked up and get the plumbing finished, just found out I need a new thermostat cover thing, threads in mine are gone. Other than that it is real close, and the weather has broken and it's getting nice and warm, so I'm getting real anxious, and I only have 2 weeks of school left, then I'm off for next 3 1/2 months. The motor can hopefully get fired up in the next week or two. Got the hookup on my fuel line tonight. Gonna get it tomorrow. For FREE! And it's AN line too! After that all I'm lacking to get the engine fired, is getting the wiring all hooked back up.

I'm ready to see if the old girl even floats!

I THINK they are Teflon. At least, that's what I have always heard they are.

The "can't mention the polyurethane wear ring" bit was just HawiianJet stirring the pot while giving me some friendly crap Heatseeker, nothing more. All in fun.
