my 18 tahiti has a panther pump. and my engine currently has a 1350 PTO on it. will a 1350 driveline work properly with the panther? i was given a 1310 driveline but obviously it doesnt match up. is there anything that can be done to the 1310 driveline or am i looking at buying a new 1350?
this is literally the last missing piece and then i can go boating. in cold water. heh.
Assuming your using a PTO (power take off) you can do a few different things, get a 1310 PTO and bolt up your 1310 driveline or run the 1350 with the PTO you have now. There shouldnt be any reason you cannot run the 1350, all dimensions are the same other than the larger U-joint, the splines are identical.
Ka0tyk, Panther Drive lines are "similar" to Drive lines for just about all other jets but the Jet shaft female spline is considerably different in size , the Majority of Panther jets were configured with a Panther specific 1310 style drive line and a few "Rockwells style" with small ujoints. Also Most Panthers and some Maritec's utilize brg cap "snout" to facilitate 3 pt mounting ,the inner bore of that "snout " (if so equipt) , I don't belive would allow use of a true 1350 DL nor do I belive one was actually ever available in the small Panther spline. after getting a few PMs its my best bet to get a 1310 PTO and use the existing 1310 driveline i have thats in good shape. i just hope that after i get the 1310 pto that everything matches up and works.
