    Default 12ja-b

I have been reading and searching the forum for information on a 12JA-B that I got this weekend. I cant even find something that describes the difference between a split bowl and a non-split bowl. Can anyone point me to some threads or a page with good info?

I am trying to decide what to put in my boat the Berkeley or keep my Jacuzzi with the energizer kit.

    Matt.

A's B's and G's were "two piece"/split bowls, C's (& E's) were "one piece bowls , your 12JA-B was an early Berk split bowl offering with a B impeller originally ,some subtle differences from a later 12JG but a good piece nonetheless

    "C" bowl

This is an early JA Berkeley split bowl that I purchased from Tom last year.
The only differences I notice is the position of the oil ports (top) and the exit vanes are shorter than the later JG split bowl.

What makes it a split bowl? Can I just bolt on a JG bowl? Could I bolt on a JC bowl?

look at the housing where the impeller spins. the non-split is one solid huge thing. whereas the split bowl is actually 2 pieces.

So are parts and bowls interchangeable? Could I bolt on a C bowl? or any other. I am just wondering and trying to learn about the possibilities.

Most parts are interchangeable! And yes you can bolt a C bowl to the pump you have! But the split bowl (G) is more desirable for the pieces that can be changed! Short droop, full droop, snoot, ETC. to set the boats ride, launch, speed, ETC.! WT

SOMEONE SAID YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU! SO,IM BURNING IT UP ONE GALLON AT A TIME!

Like Widetrack said the G bowl would be desireable and many parts are interchangable , A and B bowls work well too , In the case of your particular 12j "a" your somewhat limited by its early design, as the Suction (main body), pump shaft and bearing cap differ in design from the later jet siblings .On a new install this wont matter if you decide to use it Tom
