Default Bassett Headers? Through or over the Transom?

I Have an 18 foot Southwind Jet with a 460 ford with some bassett twisties on it. I was thinking about getting some Through the transom Bassetts. What would be the pros and cons here?
    Thanks

X2 on the above...after 12 years I'm more than tired of all the noise.

The only downside I can figure > the rear of the boat will be more congested (for working on it)

They sure do look nice. Here's a 460 that I cut over a few years back. Turned out real nice. I will say this though. They're a little harder to keep clean and rust free due to tight tube spacing and multiple bends etc. I'm not a maintenance freak, so I'd probably have to get em ceramic coated just to avoid the hassel of trying to keep em clean.

As stated above, they are quieter while idling around. When you stand on it and get the pipes above water, they're pretty much just as loud as OT headers.

spend the money and buy some waterjacked thru transoms -- the headers will still burn you and if you ever want to cover your engine you can . I could touch my jacketed headers after a hard run and the where just HOt .....not peel your skin off hot lol

You can always keep the headers if You sell or move onto another project. Think of it as an investment!

Many here and back in the Hot boat days built they're enginges for keeps. Sold the boats with stock or less engine. Boat hulls can be less expensive than detailed enegine. But i hear ya on the waterjacketed headers. Duane (HTP) has a nice set up.
