    Default Steering cable question

I have an older Carrera jet boat and need to replace the steering cable. I removed the cable yesterday and found a stamp on it that says Detmar CO5 17FT. Does anybody know where you might find a replacement cable, trying to avoid replacing the hub assembly as it matches all the gauges.
    Thanks 520-310-9016

Detmar is out business so you are going to have to replace the entire system, Telefex make's a system that will replace the Detmar without any problems. On the plus side it's a 100 percent stainless steel so you won't have the same problem that the Detmar gave you. Corrosion!

Corrosion and the bends will kill it. I had a 19 foot cable, changed it out to a 13' to eliminate bends and has been one finger turnable for about 5 years now. Yeah you can see it on part of the floorboard but the straighter the shot to the pump the better on a bigger cruiser.

X2 on the bends, excessive bends will kill a new cable in a short time. The new cables are a far cry from the old Morse, and Detmar systems.

Do you have a pic of that?
I think I might need to do the same thing.
The giant S turn before the pump has apparently killed mine after only 2 years.
100 years from now, none of this will matter.

I dont' have a pic handy , but I actually flipped the rack over and ran a nice smooth bend down the passenger side, then straight to the floorboard then to the pump. It turns like butter. YOu may have to make sure you can flip yoru rack without making the steering backwards. I don't remember exactly how i did it.
