    Default Boat Wrap

    Howdy,

Has anyone ever tried wraping their boat with wraps we comonly see as advertisements on cars (Rolling Billboards)? I do not know too much about the wrap systems, but it seems like it would be a great way to change or update the look of a boat.

Anyone care to share the basics of Wraps? Cost? Longevity?

I had this idea years ago. But all i got was flack. People are so resistant to change. I though it would be a great way to change you graphics every coupla years. Way cheaper than paint!!!!

It's seems to be a great way to keep the boat looking updated. But, how much does wraping an 18' boat cost?

$10 a square foot is not bad. Can't wait to see the results!

Any ideas as to how long it lasts on a boat?

Depends on if you pick an existing design or one of your own. Graphics design time is expensive. Probably at least $500. Try to make a friend in the wrap business and promise to refer some new customers to him. It helps.

In July I saw a group of people from Phoenix at Apache lake who had a wake boat that was wrapped, black with white skulls and flames everwhere. It looked pretty sweet, started talking to the guy and he said it was wrapped about 2 years ago, stored outside with a cover and looks as good as the day he had it done. Every morning he sprayed it down with Mothers detailer and it shined up really well.

I dont remember where he said he had it done...

hmm, this isn't a bad idea at all! my first thought is always the way out there, super crazy graphics people normally use when doing these things. But if it can be done, i'd be interested in an application on my old sanger cruiser for graphics as the original looking candy colored stripe graphics like sanger used to paint on from the factory....might be a much more durable way of doing it. just gel the boat a solid color and apply the candy stripes as wrap graphics. plus after a few years I could go back and just have them change around colors if i wanted and do a slightly different look....hmmm

I'll be interested to see what some of you guys do and the costs involved!
