Why, are you shipping one? Where to, I've got a bunch of traveling coming up Wednesday/Thursday in So Cal, and points east next Monday/Tuesday...

That's really cool of you to offer Ray, and I appreciate it greatly. But this shaft's going to Saint Paul, MN. Doubt you're going that far

Yeah, an engine, or an entire pump might warrant a detour, but the shaft is just a long skinny box. UPS/FedEX might be a better way to ship....

I had a bit of time trying to find a box that I was comfy with when I sold one a few years back, I ended up rolling it up a few times in cardboard!
Stand on the bathroom scale with and without, works for me!

Actually Sanger Rat was kind enough to PM with a kick-ass idea....abs or pvc tubing with a couple end caps. Great idea, and I, for one, would've never thought of it. Best part is that I probably already have all the pieces needed- leftovers from jobs past
Might add some ounces to the overall weight but it's well worth the peace of mind.
