not sure who makes the bellhousing...mine has no name on it...i got it from Kjell (on the boards)...the starter is a CMI clone...i got it off of EBay from DB Electrical in Johnson City, Tenn...just remember, it has to be a CCW starter!

I refer you back to post #5. You might want to add Jack at MPD and Duane at Hi-Tech. They make some really clean rail kits with the optioin of a top mount starter. Ya need to talk to them, the top mount starter option may not show on thier web pages.

edit: I see you already have a rail kit, these guys should be able to provide the requred parts to add the top mount starter to your stuff. Agian, talk to them and they will go out of their way to help you out.

if you already have a rail kit, buy the rear engine plate and adapter from lightning or JBP

I made mine with an adapter purchased fron a forum member

If you can, run a top mount starter...... My tunnel hull, the starter was lying almost on

I re-rigged, I moved the engine forward, and dropped it as much as I could, so no way a bottom mount would work, for me.

How do you guys like the lightning top mount bracket? Is it any good? Can you adjust the up and down position on it? Is it true you have to run a 1/2" thick rear motor plate with those brackets? If so, why?

Mine is 1/2"...I assume so the is more threads for the bolts that hold the starter stand on..I dunno. The only(s) way I know to adjust the up and down are....Jan will sell a .030 taller/higher starter stand...or with a set off offset dowls for the locating pins in the back of the block.
