Default Rogers Help (Rogers experts please come in)

I found a project rogers and am trying to find out what type of rogers it is as i know there were a couple different styles. I looked for a HIN on the hull and could not find one, are they located somewhere other than the rear of the hull? The intake in the boat comes to a long point in the front, i have never seen one like this but it may be common place. What things should i be looking for when going over this hull as in how do i inspect the stringers and transom to see if the are rotten and any other items i may need to look at? I will try to get some pictures of the boat tommorow and post them up. Thanks for any and all help in advance and i am sure i will have more questions.

    Not an expert but
When you take pics, get some good deck, transom and profile pics.
The deck to show flat or bubble.
    Transom for 18' or 19'
Profile for deep or shallow entry

Just post some pics of everything. Tap on the f'glass and listen to how it sounds, you will be able to tell if the glass has delaminated from the stringers and or transom.

I went and took some pics. Here is what i was told the boat will need. The floor to the outside of the stringers needs to be replaced. The guy said the structual foam was rotten and needed to be cut out and replaced. The stringers seemed solid and the best i could tell so was the transom. There appeared to be some delamination on the deck. My other question is about the intake in the boat as i have never seen one like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for a project i just want to make sure i am not bitting off more than i can chew.

    Default Bahner

From the pictures you have a Bahner not a Rogers. I can tell from the floorboards and the bolt in bulkhead. The Rogers, Bahner and the Advantage all look very similiar. But it is definately not a Rogers! What design is the keel in front of the intake?

    Default intake

It looks like a standard intake with some sort of an adapter welded to the front of it. It may have been a delta bottom and someone made that piece in front of the intake to change the shape of the bottom. Just a guess. Good luck, Chris

Greg, The Bahner deck mold had a splash rail grafted into it when Rod made them. The rear deck area was not flat. This one is either a Rogers or Advantage.

I can take any additional pictures needed to help decide what type of hull this is. The blue carpeted piece looked to be part of the old floor that was in the boat. My goal with the boat would be to run in the high 90's or even crack the tripple didgets. Like i stated before the main thing that jumped out at me was the intake as i have never seen one like it before and would like to know more about it.

    Looks like a fun project.

Here is a 19' we built, thing ran in the 115 MPH range and was stupid quick off the start. I miss that boat, it was a runner. We had about 900 on motor and a 250 shot.

    Chris,
Jordans Rogers is what inspired me to want to build one, that boat hauls the mail and you guys did a bang up job on that boat. I guess my question still stands, is there a sure fire way to tell wether this boat is a rogers or an advantage. Also what kind of intake is in the boat as i have never seen one like it before.

    Thanks,
    Cody

I really dont know if its a Rogers or Advantage, wouldnt be too concerned though, if the boat is sound it will work regardless of who made it.

As far as the piece ahead of the intake, dude I dont know. Ive never ran into one of those wish I could help ya with that but I just dont know what that thing is. Does it come through the bottom at all? Shoe didnt say anything maybe hes never seen one either?

I will take some pics of the intake from under the boat and post them tommorow. Is there any one you can think of that i may be able to talk to that may know somthing about the intake? The reason i am asking is if i get the boat it will be getting an mpd low pro intake. So that leaves me to think that i will have to glass in the hole. Then will i have to build a keel for the boat or are they not as important on a vee hull. I am not aware of any guys in my area that are good with bottoms on jet boats. Thanks again and sorry for all the questions

If that piece ahead of the intake is coming through the bottom it may not be worth getting that boat, you would need to restore the bottom back to its original shape, yes you could do a small keel addition but that doesnt make the job any easier. Putting a small dropped keel on one of these is a whole 'nother discussion.

Pics from the underside would help alot here.
