    Default I'm stumped

Since this place is dead I'll post some problems.

I usually start the boat once a week to keep the Cobb webs out. It's been about 3 weeks since the last start (been busy) now it won't idle. I took the carbs apart (dual carters 9410) thinking something got in there. All the passages are clear, jets, venturies, air passages. It will start but die abruptly. Fuel pressure is right around 6, bowls are full of fuel, fuel is crystal clear. I cleaned them again thinking I missed something. Still no go. It fires until it burns the fuel I pumped in there. It's like it's not sucking fuel from the carbs. Maybe air instead?

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of picking up a gasket set for it and see what that does if anything.

You also can't rev it on it's initial start. It's a fuel thing, but what?

plugged fuel filter?? Sometimes if you get a lot of debris on the fuel tank side of the filter, it will let some fuel by then plug it self up and stop the flow. As soon as the fuel pump stops pulling it releases that debris only to be sucked up again when you try to pump fuel. Its worth a shot.
    And the new project begins!

Does it simply "light" for a moment while cranking or actually start, idle and die ....OR does it start idle high and die out Tom

I dont think its the fuel filter. Before I did anything I took the fuel line off and pumped it into a cup to see what the gas looked like. Filled the cups rather quickly and was clean and clear.

This engine has never idled cold. You would give it two pumps to squirt gas in it then crack the throttle till it warms up, then it would idle on its own. I can give it two pumps, fires up, idles until it burns the gas that you just shot down there then dies. You can't hold or crack the throttle open as it just dies also. Its not sucking gas out of the carbs but I cant figure out why. When it does light it does have manifold vacume (gauge)

Bowls are full of fuel, if they were stuck open it would flood.

I meant stuck in the off position
When you pull the bowl plugs does fuel run out?

What is the temperature where you are trying to do this start up?

Can you take your hand and activate the accelerator pumps by themselves? If so, do it two or three times as soon as it starts and see if it keeps on running.

Weather right now is 80! I can squirt fuel with the pumps. After it starts I've tried pumping more fuel in there but dies before the fuel can travel that far down.

As far as a vacuum leak, that would explain why it doesn't run for more than 3 seconds. But something that big you would think would be easy to spot.

    Vacuum leak sounds suspect;
    Carb gaskets
    Tunnel Ram divider gasket
    Intake Gasket

I'll order up some gaskets and see what it does. Both carbs sit atop a little B&M blower. I'll start with the carbs and work my way down.
