    Default Pump Parts Swap/Loader ???

I bought a gullwing which came with a Dominator pump in serious need of a rebuild. i have a Berk 12j pump with a G bowl that i bought. I rebuilt the Berk myself several years back and has only a few hours on it. I know many say the Dominator is the way to go. I was told I could rebuild the Dominator using the Berk. parts other than the wear ring. I'm not going to be pushing alot of HP to it. 500 or less i would think with my new engine. Is it worth rebuilding the Dominator for this application? Can i reuse the Berk parts? should i just use the Berkley instead? I will use some combination of droop/wedge/diverter if that will make any difference.
Also does anybody think it necessary to bolt my loader thru the intake. can you just drill through the existing bolt holes and then just put bolts on top and silicone? Thanks for the advice. Josh

i had a dominator pump on my 19 nordic a few years back and went thru the same thing? i took my rig to Jack at MPD and asked him to put berkley parts in it... basically was a dominator housing with all berkley parts. i would call jack or get ahold of cs19 here on the boards and one of those guys will tell you everything you need to know! good luck and congrats on the winger!!! i just got one to, im still rigging it

Seems kind o' dumb to tear apart a perfectly good pump to fix a worn out one. Just put the berkeley in it. All the internals are interchangeable....dominator had a different impeller design for a while think....had kind of an incorporated stuffer on the impeller...

The one difference is the OD of the bowl. The modern dominator bowls won't fit through a Berk transom adapter and a Berk bowl is to small to seal using a dominator transom adapter. I'd put in whichever pump is in good shape and be done with it. If the dominator bowl is good, reuse that so you don't need a new transom adapter

Josh the Dominator suction is stronger IMO and depending on the year/serial number nearly everything will swap over from the Berkeley , in some cases even the wear ring impeller combo will swap re securing the loader I would prefer to see them tapped O'size with grade 8's and siliconed and lock nut on the top side but you could likley get by by simply overdrilling them useing 5/16 Bolts and then (seal w' lock nuts) good luck Tom

I'll probably decide within a few weeks or so. I'll let you know.
