    Default Ultimate wear ring?

Ive got a berkeley pump and just got an ultimate wearing for it but the wear ring surface on this ultimate wear ring measures .975 as to where my bronze wear ring measures 1.075, Do I have the correct wear ring? Just checking before I go ahead and machine .100 off the front of my impeller. And if so just curious as to why it is .100 shorter.

Maybe dumb question on my part but wouldn't the numbers you shared just mean the ultimate wear ring extends past the edge of the impellor by .100 less than the bronze wear ring?

Yes the ultimate wear ring falls .100 short of reaching the rear of the wear ring surface on the impeller. Its really not a big deal just not real excited about not being able to snatch it out and go back to a bronze wear ring without having to either recut the wearing surface on the impeller or shortening a bronze wear ring.

Is it really worth cutting the impeller just to fit a wear ring? Id rather see a 1.075 tall wear ring in there personally.

Yeah your right! Im not wittling on my impeller to make this thing work. Still thinking about what to do about it but right now Im thinking about making a .100 shim to put in behind this thing and machine the the shoulder back on the wear ring to make it work for now.

X2! Keep the impellers the same and use wide wear rings for increased sealing.

The Ultimate Wear ring was developed and is sold by Duane of High Tech Performance (HTP). You should give him a call, he may be able to help you figure out what to do about the apparant mismatch.

On the UWR i though what was really important was the clearance between the rear lip and the impeller? just curious, If the wear ring is .100 short would it even make a difference?

Every point where you can pick up a sealing surface the better the whole thing will seal in the end. Because when you have pressure in the bowl less water will get by a .010 gap versus a .100 gap makeing less water available to get by the radial surface and the front edge creating a better seal.

We are talking about the length of the wear ring right, and not the clearance between the impeller and the wear ring?

Yes, the length of the wear ring. The length affects the clearance on the rear edge.

isn't there a liner with a lip on it behind the wear ring, should hold the ring out farther
