    Default Carpet glue

Anybody know if a gallon of glue will be enough to lay carpet in a 18' jet. Floor , toekick, and beside the motor outside the stringers? Thanks

IMO, i would think it would be more than enough!...on the can, it should tell you how many sq ft it will cover & also if you can thin it down ...i personally used 3M spray adhesive & it worked fine ...just sayin' my .02 cents

Thanks. I had been told that any alcohol based adhesive would eat the rubber backing. Is the 3m stuff safe for the rubber? How much do you need and what's the cost?

I assume fast rat is talking about spray contact. I have never used it but it should work fine. If you read the instructions I assume it will tell you to spray both the back of the carpet...and the boat....and then let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. Beware once you touch that carpet to the adhesive/boat.....she aint gonna want to move.

i dont know if the 3M will eat the rubber...i have indoor/outdoor carpet in both my boats (no rubber backing) & it worked fine...you only have to spray either the carpet or floor etc...you can find it at Wal-Mart or Home Depot...you have to work kinda fast cause the carpet will stick quite quickly!...Overton's & West Marine also sell a glue that they use with the carpet they sell...check there web sites...just trying to help

I have used both....The indoor/outdoor glue works best for long term. Get a cheapo trowel with no more than a med tooth. Toss it afterwards. Cleaning it for another use is a bitch.
