    Default Aluminum polishing

This is for all of you guys that have every square inch of aluminum polished on your boats. How do you keep it that way? It seems that everything scratches it and its more of a pain in the ass.

I use metal wax, Yes its a pain in the ass to keep clean. I think EMBEE can put
a coating over your polished aluminum and your good to go. Get a hold of
    Tiki here on the boards.

Does Metalwax protect it or just polish it?

X2 on the EMBEE coating!!! clear anodizing is the coating i believe... use micro fiber towels and micro fiber wash sponges! micro fiber is your friend its well worth the "pain" in my opinion. keeps me off the couch

X2! if I need to maintain it I simply use a micro fiber towel and mothers billet, I have tried quite a few others and by far the Mothers Billet is a hard product to beat, yes, I have tried the 3 step Metal wax and my preference is Mothers. I used to think polishing was a pain in the ass, but now I realize that windex or hair conditioner in a squirt bottle work for me out on the water and off!

x3 on mothers billet, good stuff! I used BlueMagic for years and would never go back after trying mothers billet.
I use vinegar and water to clean, but the girlfriend bitches about the stank...

I've spent hours uncountable trying to get my alum to look like chrome, and the best finish I've found is with Mothers Billet. Where might I be able to find metalwax? I would love to find something that does a better job with less effort...

i have tried lots of brands . certain ones work good if the aluminum is in bad shape others work to polish lightly & others won't do a darn thing but are realy good right after you polish with a wheel. micro fiber will take a perfectly polished piece & scratch it! i heard you find a 100% cotton sweatshirt & use the inside of that for the real finish job.. i like zepher for the real rough stuff & flirtz.master formula is real good & i use that all year . blue magic is real mild. i dont like paiste like mothers or similar as it is a pain to get out of all the cracks. its good to have a few grades of polish. i do use micro fiber all year but when i first put the shine on with the buffing wheel you need the soft stuff ,micro fiber is polyester i think.never tried metal wax but wouldn't mind trying it(free samples anyone) i did find a real good billet polish at a motorcycle event but they went out of businessfirst time i got my carb to look like chrome! i noticed that alot of the aluminum has a haze or deep corosion of some sort & when buffing with a wheel & compound i used to use the white rouge & tripoli . this time i used stainless polish & it worked better for getting out the haze & cloudyness. then i polished it with the billet stuff that you cant get any more & like crome!the stainless stuff didn't cake up in the corners as bad as the white or tripoli. good luck!
