    Default Steering cable routing

I hate how a regular morse steering cable always runs across the back corner of the bilge area and has to make an "s" turn to go out the pump. This is even worse if you have a transom plate instead of a stock piece. My idea was, at the rack under the dash to run the cable forward through the toekick and loop the cable under the deck and come back through the toekick along the drivers side stinger back to the transom. That leaves a pretty straight shot out the back. Anybody done this or have picks of alternate ways of running the cable? Thanks

Whenever possible we route the steering cable down the gunnel to about even with the front of the engine and then across the floor making one big sweeping bend in and back along the left stringer and then staright out the back This usually elimiates at least a foot from the length neccsary for most boats and will increase cable life (less tight bends less wear) plus the added benifit of haveing the shortest cable possible (more reactive) Tom

*also helps Jet boat steering to add a googd "live" steer tube bushing and make the connection at the tiller arm with a swivel/clevis
