    Greetings all:
I picked up a 78 Hawaiian 28ft weekend before last and all my research seems to lead me to "old rigger". It looks like hes most recently active on here so I figured Id register. Ive started a restore thread on iboats.com but heres a couple pics anyway.

Glad to see you made it over here. There is a much bigger jet crowd here than at iboats. iboats is a great board, just not much jet traffic and they are a little less tolerant over there.

You might PM old rigger. He does post here.

There was another 28' Hawaiian for sale on Houston CL a while back. If I remember right it was yellow. Not sure if it ever sold or not.

    Default Tore down the 460...YIKES

some weird ass secondary valve-reliefs were notched into the sides of the pistons:

so naturally one (#3) had broke:

Got wicked lucky though. no scoring on the cylinder walls and valve head. Pieces blew out the exhaust with no other damage.

Got the boat flown and off the trailer. I just rounded up some old scrap tires from a junk yard and stacked them. The trailer is rough as hell but salvageable.

Nice boat man...I think that thing qualifies as a "ship".
100 years from now, none of this will matter.

    Default Been a while...update

well we're inches away from being ready to fire it up and hopefully hit the lake this weekend. The motor rebuild took longer than expected but its got shiny new speed pros and rod bearings. Getting it out of the shop was way easier than I though it was going to be.

this is an old one back when we first got it OFF the trailer

almost ready to drop back on

    RACKS!

Roommate welding up some broken casters for the wheel dollies

We're seriously thinking of making this a permanent modification

    and finally OUT!

I was just wondering about the progress on this one earlier this week. Glad you are still at it.
