Default Need Help with Rail Kit Installation

    Hey Everyone!

Well, after almost a 3 year hiatus "Dad's Boat" is making a comback!

I finally killed the 454 and am in the final stages of putting together a Dart 540. (working with Steelcomp and cstraub on the combo)

During this repower project, I will also be eliminating the cast aluminum 4 point mounts in favor of a rail kit.

Does anyone have a fixture available that I can borrow to help with the pump alignment?

I think Bigamist had something that even took the place of a mock-up block, but I'm not really sure what the hot ticket is?

    Help?

The timing could be right with this one! I probably won't start the project for a few weeks.

When the engine is out, bolt the rear mount from the 4 point back in the boat. Then bolt the rear plate from the rail kit to that and you will be able to see where to mount the rails or cut down the plate if you are mounting the rails at the top of the stringer. Then it's just a matter of adjusting the front mount or the rails so you get the engine at the angle you want. What kind of hull?

(you could do the same with the front also, bolt it back in and attach your front plate to see where to cut or mount the rail)
Don't forget to fill in the old holes with some dowels and glue or epoxy.
