Well Mike, I can say that Gary, CJ187, put two "french doors" in his pan, (much larger than "windows"), and Jim, CJ72, retired with what seems to be a rod knock and a crushed spark plug.... I know Brad, CJ888, had an oil pump issue,(snapped the casting off), on Saturday, but it was repaired using Ted Kolby's hitch receiver hoist to pull the engine. Brad was unable to get through pit road traffic for Saturday's final even though they were ready to run.. The others will have to chime in here for more info....

This evant was my return to CJ racing after a long hiatus. I bought and drove Lance Nicholl's ex CJ 426 Liberty boat (now CJ 60). I have never met a better group of guys than those in this class. There was great camaraderie everywhere. I had more help and assistance than I could ask for. The boat ran better than expected given the thrash it took to get it together. I'm going to need more power from the little LS motor to be competitive, but I can get more experience driving the boat in the mean time. I did not run Sunday due to teething issues (wiring and computer glitches) but I should have that sorted out by Parker. I have a long list of people to thank for helping and welcoming me into the class including: Harold Jr & Sr, Terry, Brad, Ron, Gary, Mark, Nick, Ralph, Lance, Jim and the list goes on... Thanks to all for some great new friends and clean, fun racing.

As to the boats performance, I ran a best of 86 mph (gps) in the first heat on Saturday, about 8 mph off the fastest pace. This was pretty evident when Nick, Ron and Mark got around me on the first lap of the final. After that the engine went south with computer and fuel delivery problems and I finished 7th which was last. There is no engine or boat damage.

Looking forward to Parker next month...
