Yes, took it out again over the weekend. The wind was blowing about 30mph so it wasnt much fun but I just had to see if the lighter springs were going to help the wastegates control the boost. Didnt make any difference. So I turned the race fuel on and held WFO for a couple sec. to see were it was going to level off and it settled at 25psi. Guess I'm just gonna have to live with 25psi & up. I can still cruise it arouind on pump gas, I'll just have to mind the boost guage & turn race fuel on for any wfo stuff.
Pulls like a F'n freight train. Even on the 2 sec pull to 25psi it flashed the gps up to 108mph. I didnt stay in it for any length of time as I was out there by myself and didnt want to make any stupid mistakes. But so far so good.

    Congrats Hass.

Glad we have Barbie hair dryers.

Hurry up and figure out how to control the boost.

We will need to control ours. Throttle pedal alone won't do it.

46mm , but I dont believe that its the size thats the problem, its how they are incorporated into the header. Mark has two 60 mm ones and he still cant get below 27psi.
Tha exhaust flow needs to favor the wastegate and need to bend to get to the turbo.
    Like this

The thing about these boat setups is that we have a huge 5" dump that is very short , going from the turbin to open atmosphere. Very free flowing and absolutley no back pressure. The exhaust will flow through the turbo and to open atmosphere instead of making the turn to exit through a wastegate. Its great for making power because of very little backpressure. I believe Mark said he has 22psi of backpressure in the header while making 27psi of boost.
When Mark put his setup on the dyno and had to put some pipes on to exit the dyno cell he found that he had some new found boost control. He had to actually turn up the wastegates to reach the same boost level that he's seeing on the lake. But it was at the cost of some backpressure in the header. I think he said he had 44psi of backpressure at 27psi of boost on the dyno. That cost alot of HP. Bet that 1800 hp deal of his is closer to 2000hp in actual use on the lake.

I'm really curious about a wastegate opening to relieve exhaust but relatively no "incentive" so to speak for the exhaust to go out the wastegate.

Mark increased his pipe going to the wastegate to 2.5" and has the 60mm gates and still made no diff.
This is just a bad angle to have on the gates.

Its not really that big of a deal for me as I can live with the 25psi. If I get the itch to turn it down some more I have some friends here at Self Racing head service in Durant that can weld them right to the turbin housings and put them in the proper angle to favor the gates. I'd just have to modify my covers that I put over the turbin housings and Have the wastegate provisions that are on there now capped off.

Yea my headers are different with a collector and the wastegates on the back side. My turbos have a provision on them for wastegates if I need to use it.

But not sure if that is the best place either.
