Default In and out ramp help

Hats off to the guys working the in and out ramps. If all the racers would step up, instead of just a few, and put something in the tip jar, we could keep decent help (who doesn't bang your boat up with jet skis), who the hell would want to stand in that cold ass water all day for change?? I say add $20 to your entry fees, and get rid of the tip jar..at least they'll get paid to hear all your bitching, and you know who you are

Jet ski / in & out ramp help has been a problem for the past 10+ years. When I was a board member (for years) ... they were getting paid by the club.

We were not getting the service that we should have been (for the amount we were paying).

For example (Bakersfield): Daily wage, lunch, hotel room & 1/2 of their gas cost to arrive to race (and they drove from Chowchilla).

In around 2004 (after an arguement within themselves over tips not being split evenly) they didn't show up with enough people to cover out ramp. That's when we started asking for volunteers.

The problem is getting someone reliable to show up and work. It was like we were being held hostage. It's not a very rewarding job.

Originally, the jet ski's were brought into play due to the capsules ... now they're just a nice addition for everyone.

I'm not sure if it has changed ... but I hope it has. But let's not add to the fees to raise their pay if it's still the same. Just my .02

Hip waders are not that expensive ... how many pairs does the club need?
