    Unhappy RIP Joe Mondello 8/6/36-4/6/11

He was a big hitter for the Olds guys. Thoughts are with the family.

EDIT: Tried to fix the title. Joe actually passed on the 6th according to Modello's website not the 5th as the NHRA blog had previously reported.

Bummer...I've spoke with Joe on the phone years ago when I was building my '66 442.
He was a big hitter back in the '60's doing heads for all the racers....a freind has a few sets of Mondello prepped Hemi heads off top fuelers (FEDs)...

Another great one has been lost.....

Sad news, met him back in 87 at the old Seatle international dragway. WE were racing a 69 442 and was the last olds in the bracket so he came over and gave us some tips. The very next run we made the fastest pass of the day and broke out! Very nice guy and will surely be missed.

Just talked to Joe last week, can't beleive he's gone. Joe gave me me a job after I got back from Viet Nam before I went to work for Eliminator. Helped me thru out the years and was truly a great friend. He will be deeply missed by myself and my family. VO TWISTER was his race car and he made alot of Oldsmobile owner's very proud. He put an Oldsmobile in a Spectra 19 and won the Parker 9 hr in the jet divison!!!!
