    Default back seat help

i need help mounting the rear seat in my boat.
last year was the first year i ran without my engine cover. my rear seat used to just lean against the cover. last year i just used the front mounts for the cover to hold the seat from hitting my motor. it worked but did not look very good.

i am hoping some people on here could show me some different ways of mounting rear seats????????? please show pics if possible??????????

p.s. thats the old engine cover hanging on the wall......

my suggestion is...if you have full stringers, screw the seat bottom to those useing lag bolts & washers...get it as close as possible to the motor so as no one can get there hands etc at the crank pulley...just my .02 cents

how are your front seats mounted?...i'm presumeing you have a false floor?...you can mount the seat to the floor by useing 3/8" bolts with butterfly nuts & washers...just position the seat where you want it & drill the holes big enough so the butterfly goes thru the false floor & tighten down...all done! ...you can use as many as you think will make the seat solid...i would suggest 4 or 6...i hope this helps

I built a cup holder from a 1 X 6 in front of the motor and attached it with aluminum L brackets. This supports the top of the seat back. The bottom of the seat is screwed to 3 pieces of 2 X 4 that are glassed to the floor.

Heres a "1/4" stringer" Challenger boat Were building/restoring right now ,we had a similar delima , the original plywood seat boxes were rotten as were the seats so we came up with this idea to create seat mounts and mounting for other hardware to use our glass buckets and glass rear bench .We used Kiln dried clear Fir (40 bucks) and 3x3 1/2 3/16 Aluminum angle and lots of stainless hardware Tom
