    Default what impeller

i have a spectra 20 with a 12jc jet. has a mild 460 ford in it. needs a rebuild in pump any recommendations on size of impeller i should use. I'm sure its a stock pump and has a loader in it. ( I bought it this way) the boat planes good and mid throttle it seems the motor is to free and don't have much load against it. If i smack full throttle the rpm shoot up and the boat does go but top end isn't to much. I use this for a cruiser and not anything else.

I'd find out what's in it and what kind of shape it's actually in before deciding. It is however always better to start with one that's too big, you can always have it cut down. I'd start with at least an A for your application.

I have a spectra 20 also! About ready to overhaul my pump and Tom set me up with an AA impeller. I have a complete stock 455 and berkeley pump.

The "mild 460" and Spectra 20 will probably like an "A" or even an "AA" for what your using it for and if that 460 is in the 350 HP range its doubtfull it would see much benefit from a loader (depending on what loader is in it now and how its trimmed) chances are from what you describe the jet could simply use some "freshening" Tom
