Robbie & Kennedy can tell you as they met him around Wichita Falls when they purchased the boat from him. Seems like Speedealer may also know the boat. As per the registration he was from New Mexico. I am assuming when you ask who was the previous owner that you do mean who owned it before it came to East Texas.
Rick, I just looked it up on Dragboats.com. Doug Wagner, Strictly Business, Boat #402.
might be the o.g. sunday show down owned by ronn pitts ? not sure ron where you at....
Rick is located in North East Texas. We know the boat originated in California as an Eliminator Daytona and I believe a flat keel '78 model. Somewhere along the way someone put a nice radius race style drop keel. The boat was raced as per pictures above out of New Mexico where it was also registered as per NM numbers also seen in the pictures.
The boat was then purchased by Kennedy Young from the New Mexico owner and came to North East Texas about two years ago. Kennedy kept the boat a year or so then sold it and it quickly changed hands about three times in about a week and Rick caught her and held on. He has cleaned up the boat nicely and continues to improve her. I feel certain he would like to talk to previous owners about the hardware they used, etc.
Speedealer, thanks I found his # & spoke with him this morning. I had some hardware questions but he cleared them up. The boat had a loader in it with a 5" blocker when I purchased it & was told it came in the boat. Doug said he did not run a blocker. Any how , he did give me some good history on the boat. Appreciate the help.....Thanks Rick
I built this boat in 1978.It won the 1978 NDBA Comp Jet Championship and held
the NDBA Comp Jet record at 108.28 MPH.I sold it in 1979 to a boat dealer in N.M.
I think his name was Theron Peterson. Ron Pitts
