    Default 1978 Bahner 18ft

This is my first post, as Im new to this forum. Just started piecing together a 78 Bahner, and was looking for some thoughts on these boats. Input from anyone with experience with these hulls would great! What kind of power/speed is this hull typically good for? What are the quirks I should watch out for and mods I will need to make? For now it will be just a fun river boat that will hopefully surprise a few people lol. Berkely split bowl, 454, bassetts...

Hi, I have an 83, look to see if you have a delta pad, what the intake on the jet looks like. If it has a flattish box on the bottom, it has a delta pad. if the intake for the jet has a grill over it going from front to back, thats a rock grate, get a better one. The Bahner is a great hull, very stable. They can hit 80mph with some work done the right way. I am sure others will chime in and give you some more valid, and useful info. Good luck buddy!!

First off, welcome to the boards! I just got my 78 Bahner last summer, a barn find if there ever was one. Greg Shoemaker is A good source for performance on these boats.

Bahners are good boats, full stringer and go pretty quick with little hp when set up correct.
    Have fun enjoy!

Ya,they are quick with a stockset up. I am upgrading my top end, loader, and a lil more pump work. I might hit upper 70's this summer. GET A GOOD LOADER!!!!! The delta pads need a good loader to prevent cavitation, and keep the pump loaded!

Thanks for the input! Ill take a look at the intake. I am hopefully dropping the motor in it this weekend. Stock 454 w/ Bassetts, Berkely split bowl and place diverter. I am planning the "real" motor for another season or two down the road. When I get more serious with the pump and motor, what are roughly the hull limits (speed/hp). Thanks again, ill get some pics soon

its got a loader. also nice and flat straight ahead of the intake. Really like the lay of this boat the more Im looking. Looks like it would be pretty easy to bubble down the road!

I have a delta pad on my Bahner, and like the White Lightning Loader from www.performancejet.com Jim makes a really nice piece, and has severl years of testing, and build ing them. Besides, they are all knife edged, and ready to drop in, no cutting or trimming. Just drill , tap your bolt holes, and bolt it in!! He makes a great piece!!

Don't worry, I GPS'd my boat a few weekends ago and it is way faster than I had hoped for!
