    Default Gps question

I bought a gps speedo for the boat. I was wondering if i can install the antenna flat to the dash? Or does it have to face the sky like it would on top of a car? Anybody have pics how they mounted it? Thanks

It needs to face the sky, mount it under the fiberglass deck. The GPS reception will work fine unless it's blocked by Carbon fiber.

Correct, I mounted my old gps in my big boat under the dash and it worked perfect.

While it will work most of the time stuck to the rear facing portion of the dash, it has less chance to see the satellites that give it the info it needs. Think of the receiver as having about a 140* view directly up and over it's TOP. You are best, especially using it for fast updates of speed, to have it face up, perpendicular to the direction of travel.

I built this simple mount and have it under the deck and out of sight in my boat:
