Need a little more information. What type of boat do you have? A Place Diverter helps for sure. Droop depends upon some other factors.

im looking to get the boat faster on the top end as i have plenty out of the hole. I also want it to be a fast lake boat as we tube ski and race. My moter has the biggest comp cam marine cam like 585 lift, roller rockers, wiend stealth intake, msd 6 m ignition, accel billit race distribitor, and a 750 manual secondary demon marine carb. It planes out fast and tops out in about 8/10 to the top speed only rapping out to about4200 as i only hit the rev limeter of 4600 when she pops out of the water. top speed is about 68/72 mph would like to reach 80 mph but again im in super high altitude live in wyoming wich is higher altitude than denver so this boat is actually pretty fast for around here. my boat is a 1979 sleekcraft sst witch is a tunnel hull 20ft long big block ford 460 bored 30 over and mods listed above. interested in adding a turbo or nitrous to help with the power. I would also like to be able to shoot a mean rooster when showing off.

How are you checking your speed? I'm no expert but 72 MPH at 4200 RPM in an SST seems a little hard to believe to me. Not calling you out, just curious how you are getting that MPH number.

Was running next to my buddys turbo jet skee he said we were bouncing between 68 to 70 when I get a little better weather going to use my gps to get exact my gps on my smart phone wouldn't work the last time I had it out. Have beat up on some v drives and some pretty bad ass outboards I will know for sure in a couple weeks supose to get a little snow wensday night so hope a couple weeks. Also the rpms were before the new go fast parts tach broke so could be higher I know while tuning out of the water I rap way more than under a load new tach will be in before I go out again, so kind of a toss up will have good info soon. Sorry for any missleading info I'm running new ignition box no rev limmeter anymore so like you say could be rapping around 4800

Make sure your cam is matched to your impeller, get a good loader grate, and a diverter. Those should be the first steps. Ford can twist higher rpms then a chevy, depending on cam. I have a Bahner, and did 70mph+ with a bone stock pump, and 330hp 460. That was turning 4800-4900 on an A cut aluminum impeller, with rock grate. Yes that was on GPS.
So, get the loader, and make sure you have the proper impeller cut for your cam. Get a good set of heads to compliment that cam, and boost compression. What heads are you running? Matching components are key.
I think others with more know how will chime in and give you better info.

Get a diverter, and a loader. Get your pump built right, and go from there!! Good luck!!

Have you thought about bumping it up to an 850 carb? I went from 750vac to 850dp on my olds 455. It really woke it up and got me a few mph on the top end. Olds does like big carburetion, not sure about the 460.

I like how you think, but it takes a bit more then that. I think the Comp Cams 298x marine cam is a grind for B cut impellers, and you will have issues with reverbiration, unless you have a handle to control the water flow to your headers. Might think oabout the Banderlog!! Just a small tip!! Good luck!! Oh ya, about you 460 heads, get ahold of Lkaesonly here on the board, or google hyflowdynamics!!
