    Question Inducers?

I don't think that I've ever seen them talked about on here. What are everyone's thoughts about them? I've got a buddy who's rebuilding his pump, and is planning on buying one. Are they worth it, and do they really do what they're supposed to? At what speed and horsepower are they needed, if at all? He also said that he found one that doesn't need any machining of the impeller shaft, it slides on and uses 1 or more setscrews to hold it in place. But I haven't been able to find this one, and I'm not to sure if I like the sound of it just being held in place by setscrews because of the forces being applied to it at higher RPMs. Thanks.

your buddy's been smokin some good stuff inducers aren't for every boat, i've rode in some boats that it did nothing for em, been in other's that were turds without it. i run a gullwing and most gullwing guys run 1, yet most of the gullwings i've rode in with them, don't holeshot as hard as i do without 1. tunnels do well with them as do boats with smaller hp and b-c cut impellors, it just all depends on the boat and motor.

i'll be racing gullwing with similar power to mine this coming memorial day, and they'll be runnin inducers, so i guess we'll see where i stand without 1. my boat doesn't slip on holeshot, and i honestly don't think i need 1, but if i get my ass handed to me

Well, I fall into that category. Estimated 345 hp, and an AB impeller. But I've got no plan of buying one anytime soon, unless my boat is a super turd out on the water. Then, I might give one a try to see if it does anything for me. But, not likely, I've already got an intake loader, so I think I will be feeding the impeller plenty of water. Thanks.

you don't fall into that category a ab cut is still considered a big impellor where i'm from and there's no need for an inducer on it with your hp

Thanks, I didn't know that. I just learned somethin' new today.

Is an AB just cut to a size between an A and a B? Thanks.

You talking about the gap between the impeller and the wear ring shoulder? The gap that you adjust with the shims that you put behind the impeller. Mine was set at 0.035" when I pulled it apart, so that is how I put it back together.
