This boat is something that I have wanted for a long time. Originally my plans were for a closed bow, but with one kid and another on the way I decided to make it an open bow, as far as I know it is the first open bow 21 Daytona. I bought it as a project boat. So I called Kevin @ KMG boats and talked to him about making it an open bow and redoing the glasswork. Kevin also put in a couple more bulkheads and a solid floor for more support. He also repainted the boat because it had some damage and I was not happy with the purple and green colors. We are having the interior done right now, and will have it on the river for the fourth of July.
Are you gonna have the bow seats pull out like on the ultra deck boats for more storage back under and behind the seats (in the sponsons)?
Yes, the seat cushions are going to pull out so I will be able to use the sponsons for storage (kids toys) and life vest. I had the sponsons lined with lite wait carpet so it looks cleaner under there.
since its still a low freeboard boat, do you think the weight in the front will make the bow want to dive more in the water? maybe even performance loss on a tunnel? lack of a space is what made me sell my daytona last week, and with a tunnel riding 21' daytona, its sure to make folks cut theirs up and start this.
