I talked to the tech guy and PR lady at Desert Storm in May the PR lady from Illmor told me of a guy who has an Illmor V-10 in a jet boat.

I did a new motor last year and have had nothing but hell with it! Always something! Anyways, I screwed up and used the wrong person. So I want to start over with something a LITTLE more reliable. I love our carrera, and want to use it a lot in Needles but I cant! So I am going to make it a purpose of mine to put a badass engine in it. No blowers, but at least 600hp. Would like efi too.

I got rid of my Howard with the Teague 800 knowing that if I ever needed some chest pounding moments I could always fall back on our jet boat. Hasnt happened always broke with like 8 hours on it.

If you want 600hp and want to be a little different (and don't want to do any 1-off parts to install in your boat) - do an ERL Superdeck 2. It's based on the LS1 engine, has up to 500 cid, will make a pretty easy 700+ on pump gas and is designed to be a max effort nitrous motor.

Or, step down a little and do a 440 cid Superdeck 1 and make 600+ hp on pump gas. Could still be a boosted motor in the future. FWIW, the Ohio boys are reliably making 2000+ hp with an ERL Superdeck 1 and turbos.

For simplicity reasons, I would call Dyno Flow out of Vegas. He offers 750 hp out of a reliable 572 BBC for a lot less than what you could buy an illmor for. I think they even offer EFI.

I wouldn't spend any money on the ilmor. Just too pricey. You already know where you went wrong, start over and fix it. Bound to be cheaper. If you need any recommendations on where to go, feel free to PM me. My 800 hp BBC has been rock solid going on 5 years now and Im not easy on it. It helps when the builder understands what a jetboat motor needs to make it live.

I would hit up Danny from DCM and ask him about the Shaver motors he uses. Im pretty sure they have a 2 year warranty. I want to say an efi 600hp deal was in the mid to high teens. I wouldn't put an Ilmor in that's worth three times the value of the boat.
