    Thumbs up advantage 20.5

Putting a droop and a ride plate on advantage 20.5? This thing wont get its fat azz outa the water! turns 5400 wfo mid and top end are great! i put a 4* wedge down on the nozzle and it liked it, pushed the nose over better and cruised same speed 200 rpm less...am i thinking right?"

Do You Have A Diverter Already? If You Do I Would Put A Droop On It.

The 20.5 has a little rocker in the bottom so it will be a little hard to get on plane. Are you sure you have the diverter adjusted all the way down. If you installed a 4 degree wedge and it like it , the boat just needs more down.

yes i have it in the down pos. coming out of the water, and cruzing. it is at the end of the adjustment, i think the transom just needs a lil more lift and i was currious if the droop and ride plate will give me that. Wanted to draw on the plethera of knowledge on the boards before i spent my money! lol

We have a 1989 that we bought from Harry. After spinning out twice in the first season, we took it back and Harry added a drop thru fin and solved that issue. At the same time we had him add a ride plate, shoe and loader. It made a huge difference in the way it handled. It really planted the back of the boat. Never really had a problem with the way it loaded. Doesn't seem to need a droop. We put a little more power to it and ran 72mph @ 5300 w/ an A alum.

Ron, ours had a drop through fin as well. I thought it might have been added by another owner but was told that they used to install them at the factory..

Long time reader first time poster howeve ri couldnt help myself because i have a 1988, 20.5 classic closed bow. i dont have a fin in the bottom of mine, and i dont have any problems this the boat staying strait or wanting to come around. The orginal owners of my boat had a blown 540 that was putting down 850hp. when i bought the boat they kept there engine and put a stock 454 in it but they left the pump the same and changed the AA impellar to a AB. i have added a droop snoot to it and it was the best money i have ever spent on the boat. boat rides even better then before and really hauls the mail now as well.

when i first got the boat it i tried hard enough i could get the boat to spin but it was totally predictable and the only reason it spun was that i wanted and made it do it. now with the snoot on it i can get it to do it at all. not that it is a good idea to try to put your boat into a spin in the first place.

when you say you can get the bow to come over i dont see that at all and all i have is 330 hp. and i only turn 4600 rpm max. how tight is your pump and what kind of engine and impellar do you have to be turning 5400??

this is my set up and she runs F*ing hard, stock 454 with a 850cfm dp, berk JG, ride plate, shoe, AB impellar, droop, hrdo diverter, red insert in nossel. nothing crazy!

again i have been reading these threads for years now and have never posted however i have a special place in my heart for this boat and others like it that were splashed out of the rogers mold.

Actually I believe ours are a splash of a Tahiti.
Rogers 20'4" Bonneville Classic is totally different. Harry built those until 88 or 89 when Roger pulled that mold back.

This really sounds like a worn and tired pump. Might be time for a refresh on the pump, they pull like a mofo when clearances are right.

I have a diverter with red insert droop snoop and ride plate. Mine lifts perfect with roost about 5 ft off the water. The droop made a dif.

I always thought that as well and i mentioned it Bob sepulveda when we were having a conversation and he told me that the 18's and the 20's were all splashes from rogers molds.

Had my pump done last summer from the guys at jet boats plus in havasu and i dropped 500 rpm at cruising. Also a little plug for the guys up at jet boats plus, i was so happy with there work and the price was exactly what was quoted and was done exactly when he said it would. wish i could say the same for all the shops in havasu parker area. the guy even tested the boat in the lake and sent me photos all along the way. very pleased highly recomend!
