Default how true is this ebay add

dont know if this the right spot for something like this, but 90+ jet boat with under 500 hpyou are bidding on, a 1978 hurst jet, the hurst company ordered a few of these boats with a light weight layup hull and a blue printed dominator jet, this is one of them..i have professionally completly refurbished this boat and trailer, the only thing that is not 100% is the paint on the bow, the pictures won't show small flaws in paint. the back half is new paint, now i would like to briefly explain what i have done .....engine is a 454 chevy, with old style oval port heads, multi angle valve job, new isky cam shaft, new springs, seals, retainers, also a duel plane intake, new mallory ultimate performance dist.,and wires, new 850 holley d/p. new rewarder headers with weeping system, new alternator, new battery...... now for the BOAT... new stainless dash, all gauges and radio with remote, complete new interior and carpet, new steering unit and cable, throttle cable, place diverter cable, gas filler caps and sending units, complete new wire harness and fuse box . The TRAILOR.......,repainted and pin stripe, new bearing buddies, lights, jack, . THE JET:.....blue printed dominator jet, B impeller, 5,900 rpm's= 94 mph, lower steering fin installed. most of the parts i purchased for this boat came from" jet boat performance" , Cal. This boat makes a lot more mph, with less horse power becasue of the light weight and the blue printed jet. aprox. numbers , 450 hp. @ about 5600 rpms = about 89 mph right now, i kept this boat for the last 15 yrs in storage, i just completed this boat and i'm impressed!!, years ago i had a jet boat with a "so what" jet and i socked a lot more hp to that boat and it only went the average of 60 -65 as most of these boats do., but i need the money more than this boat right now so its time to GO!!! happy bidding...hurst jet boat | eBay

That boat won't do 75 mph.

Our Texas tunnel with ~600 hp did 95 mph.

The best part is he want $12,500 for it
I'd give him $5,800 if the boat checked out

I sent a note to Tom at Jet Boat Performance so he may come and comment on it, since the text states it was purchased from him.

I read the add as he purchased the "parts" not the boat from Tom.

I would hold the owner to his ebay post and bring along a GPS when I purchased the boat. I have doubts it would see 80's down a waterfall.

We wash our parts in gasoline,
    We drink Alcohol,
And we go racing with Nitro-Methane!

Good point,, hard to read that red text so I was skimming,, regardless, Tom probably does not want his name associated with any false claims.

Thanks for the heads up Barry, this gentelman is among thousands of JBP valued customers and as I recall seemed like a nice guy and purchased parts from us I remember questioning to him the "origin" of the "Hurst" jet boat, as being a child of the 60/70s I like you grew up around the Hurst Olds 442's and thought that if Hurst actually did produce a jet boat it would likley have had an Olds motor and if I were to resto it I would likley keep it that way Re his "ebay stats" its probably obvious to most here that its not likley his V-bottom boat runs those numbers . Theres not a week that goes by that Josh or I don't get a call from a guy with a 75 18' Gallopagos V bottom with an 500 hp Acme motor and brand X jet "that runs around 80 mph but want to go faster" At the risk of being "undiplomatic" I'm often left speechless Like all of us we often see things on Ebay or CL that may or may not beliveble personally I say "Caviot Emptor" (buyer beware) respective to those type issues when you don't have an "entity " to fall back for a purchase like this , one is on there own and subject to individuals "veracity" and character and honesty ....................Tom

    Bidding ended @ $ 8,100.00

Reserve not met (A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.)
