New to the forum and to boating. I picked up a 20.5' 95' Advantage Classic open bow with a from what I know stock BBC (gold roller rockers when I look in the valve covers) and a American Turbine pump with a B impeller. I took off the Edlebrock 750 carb and Carter electric fuel pump, I installed a Holley 750 DP and a Holley red electric fuel pump.
The problem I think I have now is the Voyager ignition. It is very inconsistent with the issues. Sometimes I can run at WOT and hit 5k at 52MPH and then it will instantly drop to 4500 and 45MPH like I left off the gas. Sometimes I will be cruising at 3700rpm and it will start popping like it has hit the rev limiter and then stop when I rev it up to 4200rpm.
I tried to set the timing but when I plugged the shunt into the distributor the idle dropped to low for me to keep it running with out revving it up.
Should I look into a big cap HEI i.e. D.U.I.? I don't have the funds rite now for MSD and don't know if I need it.
