This forum is about the best tech reference you will find. No books/schools or on-line courses. Just dont take any one persons word for anything. Proper pump set up is as, if not more important than your engine though

Good point. Someone should make a sticky thread with a jet boat dictionary that everyone can add to.

You forgot droop snoot....straight snoot, ride plate, transom plate, rail kit, rooster booster, rail kit, I am sure I forgot some too. IMO the 3 posts above me are spot on.....this is a great place to learn, use the crud out of the search function, and a jet lingo vocab sticky may me a good idea. Feel free to pm me...I am not the sharpest jet guy on here....but I have a pretty good feel for the basics.

How about some pump setup, (shoe, loader, inducer and bowl pressure secrets) You know, all the good stuff nobody tells.

People do give good advice Don that some see as "secrets". Sometimes "people don't listen".

Or they don't like what they were told, too much effort involved in what needs done to get the results they are looking for. .

If someone asks a question that is 4 steps away from resolving. You tell them the first thing you need to do is this... They go ahead and take the 4th step anyway. More than likely advice stops there. And it's viewed as not giving away secrets.

Sure you can put together a good scenario of your boat and pump should be doing this. But there are specific steps involved to get there.

Yes sir Ron, there are certain steps and each step has to be fine tuned to each application. Some of us like to have more direction than just the first step. I dont head out on the road and stop at the first town and wait for instructions. I like to have it maped out and then if I deviate from that then it is a learning curve.

There is more to setting up a pump than just taking pressure readings, there are choices to make like what impeller, shoe or loader. when the choice is made how are they shimmed or trimed to get the desired outcome. And will an inducer help my app, what about rideplate length and angle or do I need to run an insert in my nozzel. I also know the pump has to be loading all through the RPM band and trust me when Im done with mine it will. I may have to take a few side roads to get there but I'll learn as I go. and HELL YES I'M STUBBORN and thick skined

I would like to see one of the gurues enlighten the not so informed on what helped them make the decisions they made on there setup, and how they went about making it work. Literaly document a setup from start to finnish. It would sure save a lot of dead ends in the search mode.
