    wow. weird weekend.

    Came to Bako with every intention of trying to go as fast as possible and not focusing on the 8 second bracket since we had no shot of winning the championship. brought the big nitrous jets to the track for the first time. Ive been trying to make a Co2 powered place diverter work all season and finally abandoned it during qualifying after deciding it was upsetting the handling of the boat. Didn't really get to test everything we wanted to or really step on the engine. On Sunday, we went to the water for round 1 of Super E and when i saw my number i hit the gas pedal and the motor bogged and shut off because it was cold. Unfortunately I had gone full throttle, had my finger on the nitrous button and filled the intake with laughing gas. Not thinking, I gathered myself, turned off the nitrous bottle, forgot to crank the engine over with the ignition off to clear the cylinders, and when i hit the start start.....BOOM!

    It blew the teflon plenum spacer into a few pieces but thankfully that was really the extent of all the damage. with half an hour to make the call for our next pass, a small group of friends banded together and cleaned up the mess, bolted the top plate directly back onto the tunnel ram and i was ready to run.

    RJ and Mudpumper cleaned up the carbs, Blaze, Hustle, matt ringer, darrin m., jeff conrad and Scott Pynn helped me put it all back together the engine. By the way, Permatex has this new Ultimate Gray silicone that's gurantee to set up and dry in one minute and it did. No vacuum leaks. pretty rad stuff.

    We made a lap to make sure the nitrous tuneup was still good and then stuck the big jets in the fogger system for our matchup with Jerry Hicks. Im a retard though and forgot to turn up the rev limiter so I went down the track on the chip and lost with a 7.57 to his 7.32.

    After that we were still racing in the 8 second class so we slowed the boat down, won a few races, and eventually lost in the final to Kjell on a holeshot.

    during the thrash to fix the engine i know we borrowed bolts from Jeff Conrad and fittings from Mike Miller. Not sure who else we borrowed stuff from but give me a call so i can say thanks and replace the stuff.

    im tired but looking forward to the world finals.

    wish i had video. it felt good with the nozzle adjustment. hard to imagine it was running dry with such a radical change in a direction Ive never been able to go before.

    Awsome way to end our season. Start off race day with a bang and end it in the finals.

    Sometimes you have to go against your gut feeling and just try it. I like the changes you've made.
