    Default Jacuzzi Pumps

Whats the skinny on the Jacuzzi pumps? Are they junk, good, bad, OK, dont bother?

I have seen some stuff on ebay that seem to be a mix of jacuzzi and berkeley conversion combos?

Is any of it interchangeable with berkeley stuff or if it is does it require modifications?

Been looking at a boat with a jacuzzi pump and jetovator and was wondering about the pump and rooster maker.

it matters what jacuzzi you are looking at. YJ's are junk. WJ's are pretty good.

    1975sleekcraft,

How would one tell the difference or ID either one of the styles you mention?

Chop, That is a WJ with a Place diverter.

There is a little more info on identifying those pumps in my pump ID thread.

What can you guys tell me about a WJ pump then? Are they decent compared to a Berkeley JC? I have only had experience with the berk JC pump so far.

The boat is a great deal but I am concerned about it having a Jacuzzi pump. The place diverter is a big bonus too, but it wouldnt mean anything if its all no good.

Easy to service? Parts available? How much HP will they handle?

Are they more/less efficient than other pumps?

That diverter is not a direct bolt on to your JC. I believe Tom at Jet Boat Performance makes an adapter to make it work though. There are some fast Jacuzzi WJ's out there but parts are kinda hard to come by compared to a Berkeley. Tom @ JBP would be a good one for you to talk to. hopefully he will chime in soon. What kind of HP are you wanting to put to it?

MPD has made a few WJ pumps stand head to head with the Berks. The aftermarket stuff is the limiting factor.

RatSquirts Hondo T Deck was one of the R&D banderlog boats. One boat length, and your getting it.

The Jacuzzi WJ shown in your photo can be rebuilt in stock form to work extrememly well,The WJ Jacuzzi shares almost nothing with its other Jacuzzi relatives (in terms of commom parts) its actually very similar in design to the Berkeley jets, It (the WJ) can also be modified in several different ways including but not limited to the ever popular "Energizer kits" The photo shows it equipt with a "rooster tail" maker (Place diverter trim) and it is by no means junk Tom

I have a berk boat with a single axle trailer. I can get this boat for a decent deal with no engine but it has a Jacuzzi pump with diverter and a double axle trailer. I would love to swap the trailer with mine and rob the diverter for mine if it works.

If none of it interchanges then I might pass it on to a friend and that means Ill have to help put an engine in it etc. Just tryong to figure out if its a good deal or not to get into.

30 to 60 minutes on average, some basic tools and some $$$ (Very simple "bolt-on deal) and simply the some of best "bang for buck" money you could spend Tom

PS I downloaded and enlarged your earlier photo, it would appear that the diverter on that Jacuzzi pic is a very early offering from Place and is not interchangeble to Berkeley as the later ones are ...
