ok so I started sanding with some 80 grit.....kinda tough....:hmmm:....just as I expected....EM RON enamel...multi colors....just glad I have it sanded now...I had a friend bring over some used dump truck tires, so i could sand the sides, yet still having a mobility with it being on the trailer to head to the paint booth. should be in primer at the end of next week, another once over with 180 and a little glass in the usual places. and dont worry i have the southwind covered and cozy...

Uncle Info...no short cuts taken or I would definitely not be posting my build. Might earn me a little credibility. Sanding this thing down as far as I did is already past the short cut, always more work than I bargain for, but this is what we do, work on jet/drag boats.

blend...I have a BBF ready to go and is currently my plan, however, you know how it is...you never know...
I have a local grudge race this summer for $100 with my SW, against a Jimmy Johnson SW. He loves to talk smack and :stir: so I will be ready for him. Either way my boat and I are better looking.

the big plan is to sell/trade the SW and the TX and get me a Daytona/Cheyenne/Stealth. Something about sitting behind the wheel and look out and seeing the tunnels....gives me goose bumps.

and FYI...you wonder why paint jobs are so high....1) prep work sucks and tedious 2) Supplies are high (sandpaper $60, a gallon of Primer and activator $100+ with a buddy deal and I hope its enough, and of course this boat is going to be red and yellow the most expensive colors, I havent bought paint and clear yet)......whens the next lottery drawing?

I did this same thing and yes, it's a pain! I also tought the top side of the boat was paint but they had jelled the top and painted the bottom! Glad it wasn't gell on the bottom or I would still be sanding! Good luck Led!:)devil

Led, you already got your paint scheme figured out? I gotta scheme, that is old school I drew up for a TX that is yellow red and white. If you want it PM me your number or email address, and I will get it to ya, or I can send it to Bodean and let him send it to ya.

Don,t let it slip and run into a tree.lol

Yep this is the Ford out of the "warbird"

Like all projects the further you dig the deep it gets...dash wood had a bad place in it, got it patched, now looking at it the gauges holes were not in line or evenly spaced, filling them, the seat bases are week, going to replace them, and since I have it all out, I am going to reinforce the bulkhead with some fresh glass.

Alter Ego, heck yeah, send it over, so may ideas and cool deals to choose from, I can be as indecisive as a woman sometimes. I will be in primer in a few days. probably start the paint next week...thats the plan, but I am going to rush it.

almost have the dash complete, a few pin holes to address, and worked on the dip in the deck, relieved pressure from the support and that didnt do anything, so still investigating, should find out tonight, will be flipping the boat tonight, to get to work on the bottom...project remove the hook!

I don't care what you do it is going to get everywhere! I am cleaning my shop now and I am still finding sanding dust and overspray from 3 years ago! It matters little I enjoy this TX and would do it again just not as fast as I did the last one! :thumb:
