    Default speed coatings

What product to use? Speed coat 49 by Wearlon or Lubribond drygraphite? And what about "dimpling"?

What part of the hull bottom should be painted with the low friction paint?

So I've been told that flat black paint works just as good or better. Lightly sanded.

Depending on the boat you can do as much as I did or you can just do the center and 1 lifting strake out on each side of the pump, that's where the boat will be running at speed.

Since we detailed the entire area, we painted it.

Done one with the high dollar stuff and one with $7 per can (enough to do the job). For my money slip plate graphite spray is as good as anything else out there and way cheaper. Nice and convenient for touchups too. Toss a can in your tool box and hit it when needed.

Also done an entire bottom area like Jon's and another just covering the area that was worked. IMO you won't get any gains from doing the entire bottom with slip plate or any other graphite spray. Like Jon said, just spray the area that was worked.

Thats what i used, then lightly sanded a cross patern. I wasnt impressed how quickly the speedcoat we used the first time wore off after only 1 season of use. The flat black paint is still looking like it was the day i put it on. Now as far as if one works better than the other, I dont know....

The guy who helped me on the bottom of my boat won 9 class championships over 12 years, Ron said the paint worked better on his gullwing.
