Spend the $. How much is you head worth?

A good Snell 2010 approved helmet will suffice. A streetbike helmet is quite often used by guys at the track

Any helmet with the SA2010 rating is going to offer the same protection. Whether it costs $200 or $1000. The difference is comfort, colors and designs. RCI makes one for about $150 and then you can get a bell or Simpson for around $350-$400. You can still find really good deals on SA2005 helmets out there for under $100. The biggest thing is to make sure you buy a helmet that fits RIGHT! If it is too big or too small it will not provide the proper protection. the motorcycle helmets offer very similar protection with more viewable area. Not all sanctioning bodies will let you race with the M2005/2010 helmets though.

I thought the reason The Guy wore an open face was so he could eat corn dogs with the helmet on.

Save your money and buy the correct safety equipment . Don't go racing tell you can . If shit goes wrong there's no coming back . Blowing up a motor is fixable, blowing out your body is not. If your racing with njba call me and I will loan you what I can. Bob fry 714 615-0644

Loan him one or two of your jacket extensions!
Simpsonracingproducts.com offer Blem helmets, only paintwork flaws, not too big of a deal IMO I got a smokin' deal on mine when I bought.

I agree with what's said above.. I use a Simpson Bandit and like it.. Make sure if your going to spend the money that you get a SNELL 2010.. Some sactioning bodies have a rule that requires you to get a new helmet every 12 years.. Just something to be aware of..

    Default Lift

Lift maybe good on your boat but not on your head. If you are going very fast buy a helmet with aerodynamics. You don't want it to lift at speeds or try to pull your head off if you look to the side. No cute visors but you do want one that fits you and with removable pads for cleaning. Make sure the SNELL is the latest.
