Default quick prime a jet question

I am about ready to install a prime a jet. The directions say to measure back 2 inches and drill. I am running a new dominator bowl for a 9.5" impeller. The bowl is a lot thicker than a stock berkley bowl. On a berk bowl it would go into the thin part of the bowl, and on the new one it would go into the thick part. Do i measure farther back, or go at the 2" like it says?

I would say go with the directions. All your doing is bleading air from the bowl. Just dont drill into anything but the bowl.

Recomend using a drill stop , a tiny drill for "pilot" (.125) coated with heavy grease and 2" to 2 1/4 from the bowl to suction connection Tom

You can put them at 2" or you can put them back just a little further on that thick registered bowl. It makes no difference. It will bleed the air off either way. I feel that to put the hole just behind the register gets rid of a little more air. Just don't go back far enough to hit a bowl vein with the hole.

    Measure twice, drill once.
